Guidelines and Procedure for Electronics Recycling in New England

The aWorld Networks, Inc & aWorld Recycling, LLC company does electronics recycling in New England. Read our procedures below:

  1. We will pick up any requested equipment free of charge except CRT monitors, televisions, three or more printers, and broken monitors.
  2. We will take all the equipment back to our location in Ashland, MA.
  3. The equipment is then sorted by category and manufacturer.
  4. The equipment is scanned into a serialized report through Atrex (an in-house inventory system). This data remains in Atrex forever.
  5. The serialized report, along with the certificate of destruction, is then sent directly to the customer or persons necessary for hard drive and data destruction.
  6. All hard drives are wiped using government and industry standards requiring complete erasure of sensitive Data, including NIST, NIST SP 800-36, NIST 800-88, PCI DSS, HIPPA, PIPEDA, GLBA, and DoD 5220.22 military specs.
  7. If requested by the customer, we can also degauss hard drives. Once the hard drives are degaussed, they are 100% useless, and the data cannot be retrieved in any manner.
  8. Hard drives that are degaussed are then recycled according to state and federal environmental laws.
